Immunization
Well child care visits are not just for infants. Just like adults should have physicals, it is important for children of all ages to have a yearly physical or well visit. Even if a child is not involved in sports we still recommend a physical every year. The physical or well child visit is not just a time for a physical exam, but is also a visit that is used to discuss psychological and emotional well being. This visit is also a very important time to provide recommendations and guidance. The following is the most current schedule of immunizations recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices of the Center for Disease Control.

Please be aware that when your child comes for a well visit they are here for a comprehensive physical. Part of the physical entails several tests depending on their age including hearing, vision, and developmental screenings. Yearly physicals are recommended starting at 3 years old. From 4 years and up we include a hearing test and vision screening every year. The hearing test is not just a screening but an actual threshold test in a hearing booth. The vision screening checks near and far sightedness, color blindness, and muscle balance.
Please note that the above schedule is a recommendation. If you have questions about the vaccines or have issues with vaccinating your child please discuss this at a well visit. We are more than open to discussing vaccines and the controversies associated with them.
